Project Title

Perceiving and Dealing with Partition Trauma Through Literature, Film, and Material Memory

Description

This trans-disciplinary study presents the significance of literature and film as one of the greatest standing witnesses to the biggest mass migrations in the world, the Indian Partition of 1947. Furthermore, this study makes use of oral history and material memory to revisit the Partition narratives and preserve them with the help of digitized museums and archives. It is imperative to create mind-engaging pedagogical contents in heritage-related museums and exhibitions so they not only expose visitors to the past but also give them a space to move forward with the trauma and make peace with the neighbouring countries. This intervention may be a step towards achieving a closure regarding our bloodied recent history.
